It is time for some happiness on this blog and that happiness came to me via the postman on Saturday. Before I share that happy little package, let me backtrack a little…see I read this blog everyday…it’s a wonderful crafty blog written by a very nice lady who makes beautiful crocheted and knitted items. She happened to be having a little giveaway and I entered and WON!!! The first positive happy thing that’s happened to me since my adventures in cancerland ended!! So….ta-da…here are the goodies that I won!

It’s so great to meet really nice people via cyberspace and it’s really great to be back among the living doing the crafts that I love!!
*Projects I’m working on soon to come!!

Here is the quilt that I made for my grandson. Each block is embroidered with crib size batting and fleece for the backing. I machine quilted it because I ran out of time (he was 2 weeks early!)

I also used the memory feature of my sewing machine to make the personalized tag.

In honor of the Steelers victory over the Cardinals in the pre-season game, I thought I would post pictures of the hat and scarf I made for the Superbowl. Both are double crochet using Red Heart Super Saver, black and yellow, with various scraps of other acrylic yarn for the logo on the hat. I made a single crochet loop to tuck the end of the scarf through so I wouldn’t have to keep tying it. Neither are made with a pattern. For the hat I basically started with 3 chains, formed a loop and double crocheted in the center until I thought it was large enough. Then I just went around that increasing until it fit my head. I was originally going for a slouchy beret type, but it took on a life of it’s own. My husband says it looks like the old school football helmets. Here is a picture of it.

Hat with logo
Again, the scarf just alternating rows of black and yellow yarn double crocheted. It fits nicely around the neck without being too long. It’s a nice length to tuck inside of a jacket. Here is the picture of it.

Hope you enjoy the pictures (whoever you are!!) I just wanted to start posting the projects. I have several others in the works, so I’ll post as I complete.
Cheers!!
